Quality control of sugar beets

The sugar beet check performs an optical evaluation of fresly harvested sugar beets before further processing.

The system recognizes the sugar beets on a conveyor belt with a 3D camera. Then a 2D color camera looks for green parts on the head of the sugar beets. After that the system checks if the sugar beet still has leaves that weren’t cut off during harvest.

Quality levels

The sugar beets get categorized in three diferent categories:

Topped sugar beet

Defoliated sugar beet
